Hatch Mansfield takes on Loire's Joseph Mellot across all trade

Published:  04 February, 2014

Loire winemaker Joseph Mellot has appointed Hatch Mansfield, which already supports its wines in the on-trade, to handle its distribution across all sectors of the UK market.

Joseph Mellot was previously distributed by Mistral Wines in the off-trade.

Catherine Corbeau-Mellot, president of the family-owned business, said: "We have made the strategic decision to appoint Hatch Mansfield as our sole representative in the UK after much consideration. Our aim has been to align our UK sales and marketing activities.

"Mistral Wines has done a very good job for us in the UK off-trade and to be leaving them has certainly not been an easy decision.  However, we feel we now need to consolidate representation for our business in the UK to grow our business to the next level in all channel sectors.

"Our experience of working with Hatch Mansfield in the on-trade supporting Matthew Clark, coupled with their multi-channel experience and their flexible approach to service and supply were key considerations in making this important strategic move. "

Patrick McGrath, managing director at Hatch Mansfield, said the news strengthens its French portfolio. "Not only are their wines first class but Joseph Mellot is unique in that they own vineyards  in all six of the appellations of the Upper Loire.  They have an extensive portfolio which includes wines from their own Domaine and Single Vineyards alongside negociant wines. Their range is second to none and gives a broad range of wines to suit all pockets and occasions from the Loire."

Joseph Mellot currently sells a range of Loire wines in the UK from seven AOC regions.
