Celebrity chef, Heston Blumenthal, will be opening a new restaurant in Terminal 2: The Queen's Terminal at Heathrow Airport, which is set to open on 4 June 2014, with dishes showcasing traditional British fare.

The menu will offer several dishes that were researched and inspired by work done on the "In Search of Perfection" TV series that ran on the BBC.

"This is an incredible project. There are so many different elements to consider when people are travelling.  We want to deliver a broad spectrum of easy to enjoy, familiar dishes with some truly British eccentricity thrown in for good measure," said Blumenthal.

"This is an incredible project," Blumenthal said. "There are so many different elements to consider when people are travelling.  We want to deliver a broad spectrum of easy to enjoy, familiar dishes from fish and chips to pizza.  When we made the 'In Search of Perfection' series we spent hours researching the temperature of a pizza oven or the crunch of batter; it's this inspiration that is behind the menu at Heathrow - with some truly British eccentricity thrown in for good measure."

Muriel Zingraff-Shariff, Heathrow's retail director, added: "The brand new, £2.5bn terminal will not only showcase the best of the UK's art and engineering talent, but also one of its greatest culinary minds.  This new restaurant will introduce a unique and original dimension to the airport eating experience at Heathrow."

Blumenthal rose to stardom with the success of his three-starred Michelin rated restaurant the Fat Duck located in Bray, Berkshire.

The £2.5billion Terminal 2 project, which began construction in July 2010, is set to be completed in June 2014.
