Distell appoints new GM for duty-free Europe

Markus Habermann has been appointed general manager for Distell's European duty-free business

Distell, one of South Africa's leading producers of read to drink beverages, wines and spirits, appointed Habermann, who was formerly the commercial director for Europe for Distell, in order to help support the continued growth of its duty free-free division.

In the last 12 months to October 2013 Distell's duty-free division has seen double digit year-on-year sales volume growth.

Harbermann joins the duty-free division led by Marius Fouché and has been with Distell for the past 11 years. In that time he has helped grow the Amurala brand and Savanna cider brand in Europe.

Marius Fouché, who was appointed as the senior executive of the duty-free division in August, said: "With the company's strong focus on the travel retail business, Markus will now be able to devote his full attention to its continued expansion.  He has worked across many important markets, not only in mainland Europe but, before joining Distell, in Russia and the US. He brings a wealth of experience to the division and we are very privileged to have some of his expertise to unlock still further potential in Europe."
