McKinley Vintners takes on Italian producer

McKinley Vintners has announced the addition of Italian producer Orion Wines to its portfolio.

Orion Wines already has a number of ex-cellar customers in the UK and is looking to add to its client base through this link-up.

Offering wines that reflect the typicity of their particular Italian regions, Orion Wines owners Luca Pomaro and Alessandro Michelon work with growers and wineries from Trentino, Sicily, Lombardy, Abruzzo, Tuscany, Campania and Puglia, to ensure wines are made using superior indigenous grape varieties.

McKinley Vintners managing director Peter McKinley said: "We had been looking for an Italian agency for some time and were delighted when the opportunity arose to work with Orion Wines. Luca and Alessandro's passion for uniquely individual Italian wines and their understanding of the market will prove an unbeatable combination and we look forward to working together".

Luca Pomaro said: "We have been very happy with our success in the UK market so far but felt it was time to find a partner with whom to progress our business and develop new opportunities, especially in the on-trade. McKinley Vintners fitted the bill perfectly and we're very excited about what the future holds."

The first wines available will be Tenuta Monticello Prosecco and Castello della Rosa Pinot Grigio.
