CHILEAN AWARDS

The first Annual Wines of Chile Awards are to be held in Santiago, Chile, next week, with more than 500 wines up for international scrutiny. Devised by the Wines of Chile UK office, the awards will put Chilean wines on to the public stage, allowing the increasing quality and diversity of the country's winemaking to be recognised outside Chile. The judges from the UK are: Tim Atkin MW, Steve Daniels, Sarah Jane Evans, Jancis Robinson MW, Anthony Rose and Robert Joseph. Michael Cox, UK director of Wines of Chile, commented: The awards will help to introduce a competitive culture.'
