Robinsons Brewery in Stockport has received VisitEngland accreditation for its new visitors' centre, which has been rated as an "excellent overall visitor experience" by assessors.

The centre, which opened in March, offers brewery tours, conference facilities, a bar area and training facilities run in partnership with the Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce, and offers Advanced Apprenticeships for the licensed trade, as well as accredited industry-specific short courses covering front of house and cellar management.

The assessor said: "Robinsons Brewery Visitors' Centre & Brewery Tour offered an excellent overall visitor experience. This has been well worth waiting for. In particular, presentation and interpretation standards achieved in the visitors' centre match leading museums' standards. Robinsons Brewery Visitors Centre fully merits the award of VisitEngland's accreditation of 'Quality Assured Visitor Attraction'."

William Robinson, managing director of Robinsons pub division; said: "We've been delighted by the early success of the visitors' centre and the encouraging feedback we've had from those who have popped in, either to take a brewery tour, take a look at the history of the brewery or simply enjoy a pint and a spot of lunch in our bar area."

He added: "This accreditation from VisitEngland is a lovely cherry on the cake of what has been a really positive first few months. Hopefully this will attract more people to the area, not only to visit Robinsons but other great attractions Stockport has to offer as well."

The sixth-generation family-owned Robinsons estate has approximately 360 pubs and its Unicorn brewery has been in operation for 175 years.
