Hardys celebrates its 160th anniversary

Published:  09 May, 2013

Hardys is celebrating 160 years of winemaking with new launches and commemorative packaging.

New initiatives are to be announced later in the year and Hardys brand ambassador William 'Bill' Hardy, the great-great grandson of Thomas Hardy, is to lead the celebrations.

He said: "It is heart-warming to see that the vision Thomas Hardy, my great-great grandfather, had in 1853 'to produce wines which will be prized in the markets of the world', remains the guiding principle of the Hardys brand five generations later."

Paul Schaafsma, general manager for the UK, Ireland and AMESCA, said: "The 160th anniversary is the perfect moment to celebrate the longevity and innovatory spirit of the Hardys brand. It is also a great moment to remind our customers and our loyal consumers why they fell in love with Hardys to begin with and why Hardys is still a leader in the Australian category.

"We have lots of exciting plans for the brand across the year ahead, and we look forward to keeping Hardys front of mind for many more anniversary celebrations to come."

The company said Hardys is now available in 80 markets around the world.
