Intrepid Fox will be available to both retail and on-trade channels via national distributors. The brand is launching with three Chilean wines - a Sauvignon Blanc, a Rosé and a Shiraz.

The Intrepid Fox brand is being positioned as "personifying" the character of the Intrepid Fox himself. "The fox is adventurous in taking wine to new places and occasions; he is innovative in his new packaging format; and he is stylish in offering the experience of drinking wine from a real glass," a spokeswoman said.

PET wine goblets, known as tulips, hold 187ml of wine and are filled using a patented system which keeps the wine fresh for 12 months.

The goblets were invented by James Nash, who has been supplying Marks & Spencer with packaging for its Le Froglet range since 2010. His wine-in-a-cup idea was famously dismissed on Dragons' Den in 2009.

Buckingham Schenk launched a range of pre-filled goblets under the Italian brand Cavatina exclusively at Sainsbury's in October after the exclusivity agreement between M&S and Nash's company Wine Innovations ended.
