Crepes and cocktails combine at new speakeasy

Published:  06 February, 2013

A new experimental crepe and cocktail speakeasy is opening in the heart of Shoreditch.

Shutterbug will specialise in savoury and sweet crepes, healthy lunches, fresh coffee, signature cocktails, wines and artisan beers. Parisian chef and crepe expert Romain Ragouin is the mastermind behind Shutterbug's daily menu.

Ragouin has been making crepes for over 15 years and recently moved from a well-known Parisian creperie restaurant to relocate to London's East End.

Shutterbug founders Cathy Radojcin and Sasha Rainey have many years experience in cafes and restaurants. Rainey has been running coffee shops for the last thirteen years is also owner of Fix Coffee, while Radojcin has worked in restaurants and events for over ten years, including Electric House and Jamie Oliver's Fifteen.

Crepes provide "a good canvas to create an experimental menu and all from a very small kitchen," according to the duo. "Favourites of the moment are pulled pork on buckwheat crepe and for dessert it's a toss-up between the salted caramel or the red velvet crepe. Desserts aside, crepes can also tick the healthy box - our buckwheat batter is wheat, gluten and dairy, so loaded up with avocado, spinach, beetroot and feta it makes a perfect diet friendly lunch or pre-tox bite," Radojcin said.

Shutterbug is also available for private hire and has its own heated outdoor area, suitable for 60 to 120 people for private or corporate parties. It can be found at 1 Rivington Place, London EC2A 3BA.
