Justin Howard-Sneyd MW launches wine consultancy

Justin Howard-Sneyd MW, global wine director of Direct Wines, is to set up a new wine consultancy, The Hive Wine Consulting.

Howard-Sneyd, who has been with Direct Wines for three years, will launch the consultancy in January 2013, and will sidestep into the new role of global wine consultant for Direct Wines, where he will provide advice to the wine team and wider business.

He will also continue to ensure that Laithwaite's Wine continues to improve the quality and reputation of its range, including its own winemaking activities.

Simon McMurtrie, chief executive, Direct Wines, said: "The Hive Wine Consultancy will benefit from Justin's 12 years of experience at the cutting edge of Britain's leading supermarkets, and his three-year immersion in direct-to-consumer selling, as well as his first-hand wine production and wine marketing skills.

He added: "Justin has done a fantastic job for us over the past three years and I am delighted that Laithwaite's Wine will continue to benefit from Justin's considerable creativity and energy. However, I fully support Justin's ambition to spend more time speaking, writing, tasting and judging in the wider world of wine."

Howard-Sneyd said he was "delighted" to have the support of Simon McMurtrie and the Laithwaite family in setting up his own business. "It is fantastic to have the opportunity to invest more time in developing Domaine of the Bee and other winemaking projects, and I am looking forward to building up a list of other clients in the coming months."
