Tesco to take LIWF stand so wine trade can pitch ideas

Tesco is taking a stand at the London International Wine Fair for the first time to allow the trade to pitch its wines and share its ideas in a 'Dragons Den' style environment.

The retail giant wants to "break down barriers" and make it easy for suppliers to meet with its BWS buyers in an effort to taste new products and hear fresh ideas.

Members of its buying, product development, technical and Wine by the Case teams will be on hand to offer some one-to-one time with suppliers.

Tesco's head of BWS Dan Jago said: "The entire Tesco wine team will be present at this year's LIWF and we very much hope the opportunity will result in us hearing from people we might not normally have the opportunity to meet with. We are looking forward to tasting new wines, seeing some potential category innovations and hearing from visitors who would like some time for discussion with members of the wine team.

"This is the first time Tesco, or any multiple retailer, has taken a stand at the LIWF and we hope that by opening the opportunity for meetings in this way, it will prove to be the best possible use of our time."

Visitors who would like to book a meeting with Tesco can visit this website from today, Thursday April 26, and will close for registrations at 5pm on Friday May 18. They will have to specify what is to be discusses or shown, and only two wines will be tasted per session. Meetings will be allocated on a first-come first-served basis.
