Bibendum to launch 23 wineries at annual tasting

Published:  16 January, 2012

Bibendum is launching 23 new wineries from eight different countries at its 'Just Add' annual tasting, in a bid to focus more on premium wines for 2012.

The tasting takes place on January 25, and will include the Royal Tokaji Company; three top Burgundy domaines: Jean Rijckaert, Jean Chauvenet and Alain Chavy; plus Etna winery Tenuta di Fessina; premium Australian producers Battle of Bosworth and Best's Winery; and Prophet's Rock from Central Otago.

The tasting will focus on added value services Bibendum offers to its trade customers including staff training, market and consumer insights, and wine list design.

It will also be pouring a range of its boutique spirits and fine wines from top names from Bordeaux, Burgundy and beyond.

Managing Director, Michael Saunders, said: "We are always looking to improve and refresh our portfolio with excellent new producers, and I am very excited by the new arrivals.

"Our focus for 2012 is undoubtedly on premium wines, and these new agencies demonstrate our clear belief that, despite the economic climate, we can sell more and better wine to all channels of the UK trade."

Hugh Johnson will also be giving a talk about his career writing about wine and Niki Segnit, author of the best-selling book The Flavour Thesaurus, will speak about taste, flavour and the pursuit of new combinations.

Bibendum marketing director, Fiona Cochran, says: "The Just Add... Bibendum tasting is all about how we can work more closely with our customers to help them sell high quality wine and increase profitability."

The tasting takes place at The Brewery, 52 Chiswell Street, London EC1Y 4SD on January 25,  10.30am to 7.00pm events@bibendum-wine.co.uk
