Jacob's Creek targets women with Cool Harvest wine range

Published:  02 December, 2011

A new range of lighter style wines from Jacob's Creek, aimed at women, is hitting the shelves in the UK.

Jacob's Creek Cool Harvest includes a Sauvignon Blanc, Shiraz Rosé and Vermentino, and the range is described as "crisp, light and delicate in style" with grapes from cooler climate regions harvested by night.

The range will be available to the on and off-trades from February 2012, with an off-trade rrp of £8.49.

The Pernod Ricard-owned brand has teamed up with Australian actress Naomi Watts, star of 21 Grams, Mulholland Drive and The Painted Veil, to promote the wines. She will participate in a range of digital, print and PR activity targeting women, based on the tagline of embracing true friendships.

With the new wines expected to appeal to female wine drinkers, Jacob's Creek Chief Winemaker Bernard Hickin charged the crafting of the wines to his Sparkling and White Winemaker, Rebekah.

"The entire winemaking process for Cool Harvest is focussed on maximising freshness, crispness and vibrancy," said Rebekah Richardson, sparkling and white winemaker.

Simon Thomas, deputy managing director for Pernod Ricard UK, said: "Our Cool Harvest range represents an exciting opportunity for the brand as we look to drive the light and fresh market in the UK. We are constantly looking to innovate and our partnership with Naomi Watts demonstrates the fresh approach we are bringing to this campaign."
