Glenmorangie launches Nectar D'Òr 15 Years Old

Published:  31 October, 2011

Glenmorangie has extended the extra maturation period of its Nectar D'Òr by three years, to offer the Glenmorangie Nectar D'Òr 15 Years Old.

It is the latest release of master distiller, Dr Bill Lumsden and his whisky creation team and aims for maximum flavour extraction.

The whisky is non-chill-filtered for additional aroma and mouthfeel, it is initially matured for a minimum of 10 years in the best ex-Bourbon American white oak casks, then extra matured in ex-Sauternes casks for five years.

As wood is the greatest influence on whisky flavour, it is here, in hand-selected wine barriques from the world's most prestigious dessert wine-growing region, that Nectar D'Òr 15 Years Old develops its rich, spicy and dessert-like flavours.

Lumsden, says: "The result of extra-maturing Nectar D'Òr for an additional three years has improved an already outstandingly voluptuous whisky; Nectar D'Òr 15 Years Old is characterised by rich flavours of luscious desserts and spicy oak tannins, resulting from the extra-maturation process."

Nectar D'Òr 15 Years Old adds another dimension to the Extra Matured Range, which includes the dark intensity of Quinta Ruban (matured in port pipes) and the full-bodied and warming Lasanta (matured in sherry butts).

Glenmorangie Nectar D'Òr 15 Years Old is bottled at 46% ABV and is available from Waitrose and Sainsbury's at £38.99.
