For the six months ending 30 June 2011, the member companies of the Wines of Brasil sold US$1.2 million of Brazilian wine to 27 countries, up from US$853,400 to 20 destinations. The UK remains the top market for Brazilian wine, up from 15% in 2010 to 17% in 2011.

"Our goal for this year is to export more than US$4 million of fine Brazilian bottled wine," said Andreia Gentilini Milan, export manager of Wines of Brasil. The data was collected by Ibravin, based on information from member wineries of Wines of Brasil.

Eleven companies - Aurora, Basso, Boscato, Casa Valduga, Geisse, Fazenda Ouro Verde, Lidio Carraro, Miolo, Peterlongo, Pizzato and Salton - shipped their still and sparkling wines to 27 countries from January to June this year. An addition of seven destinations when compared to the same period last year. In order, United Kingdom, Colombia, Holland, USA and Germany were the top five buyers of Brazilian wines in the first half of the year.

Gentilini Milan pointed out that the average amount exported by the member companies grew by 114% from January to June this year compared to same period in 2010. "This means we are exporting products with higher added value," she explained.
