Grapevine is looking for a Head of Merchant Sales in Cumbria
This is a unique opportunity for a commercially confident wine and beverage professional to join a forward-thinking company and become a Company Director within 2 years.
Who are Grapevine?
Grapevine is a Cumbrian-based wholesale wine and beverage supplier. We deliver goods to businesses such as hotels, restaurants and bars within Cumbria and surrounding counties.
- Annual sales are £4m (£2.5m wine)
- 2018 annual sales target is £5m
- Established 1993
- 5 delivery vehicles
- Delivering predominantly in Cumbria and the county borders
What you’ll do
Responsible for increasing sales and profit, developing product range as well as improving company culture and reputation. As a high level executive, you must develop sales and purchasing plans and justify those plans to the Managing Director. Successfully leading and mentoring a team of Sales Managers is vital to the role.
Your responsibilities
- Achieving company sales and profit targets.
- Working in collaboration to develop expertise and product range.
- Overseeing and managing a team of Sales Managers.
- Seeking out major clients and forming working relationships with buyers.
- Working in collaboration with other business departments to ensure profitable sales growth.
- Accurately forecasting future sales and forming sales plans to adapt to marketplace.
- Serving as a business representative at industry events, conferences, and trade shows.
- Foreseeing and avoiding stagnation in the marketplace.
- Forming sales strategies to keep our company competitive and innovative.
Your skills
- Wealth of knowledge in relation to wines and hospitality.
- Excellent sales and negotiation skills.
- Initiative, drive and enthusiasm.
- Strong business sense and an ability to forecast.
- Industry expertise and an understanding of what drives demand in our market.
